Our team comprises of health and social care professionals with varied experience and a shared commitment of making a difference to some of the complex issues encountered within care settings today, which are examined within the context of evidence based practice and statutory guidance. With decades of collective experience across various specialities, we bring a wealth of knowledge and fresh perspectives to every consultancy and educational service that we provide with the aim of tackling health inequalities that impacts on people from varied backgrounds and needs.

Pat has 30 years experience and works as an independent nurse consultant and mainly works with the NHS, private and specialist hospitals and hospices, however has worked with Local authorities, and also supported care homes. She leads and specialises in complex cases relating to nursing, dementia, older people, mental health and learning disabilities, which are examined within the context of safeguarding, patient safety, quality and health inequalities and provide recommendations for best practice.
Safeguarding (All Age)
Pat has supported organisations to implement systems and processes relating to safeguarding to ensure that they are Care Act, Children Act and CQC compliant. These have included safeguarding policies and procedures, safeguarding workforce development, supervision guidance and criteria for referral to safeguarding for healthcare workers. Whilst her focus and expertise have been mainly adults at all levels, Pat has supported all age safeguarding at strategic and governance level.
Pat has a keen interest in Trauma Informed Approaches, Think Family and Transitional Safeguarding and the importance of strengthening the interface between safeguarding adults and children.
Pat has also worked with Safeguarding Adult Boards and Independent Chairs and was involved in undertaking tasks for the Safeguarding Adult Boards (SABs), which included partaking in the role as a Panel member for the Safeguarding Adult Board to seek assurance for SAB members with regards to safeguarding activities. Pat has also supported Safeguarding Adults Boards in developing multi-agency strategies, which included hard to reach communities. She has been involved as a Panel member in section 42 enquiries, Safeguarding Adult Reviews, Domestic Homicide Reviews and Learning Disabilities Reviews.
Dementia Care
Pat leads as an expert in all aspects of dementia care and has written a book on understanding and implementing person centred care and also published articles relating to dementia care. She has worked on dementia care transformation programs and have undertaken in depth reviews on issues relating to dementia care and provided recommendations, as well and support with implementing these within the context of best practice.
Interface between Safeguarding and Quality Framework
Pat leads on all aspects of quality assurance and the interface between safeguarding, quality and patient safety. She has developed quality assurance frameworks and quality indicators and KPIs for organisations relating to safeguarding and patient safety. Pat also specialises in supporting organisations to address CQC Section 31 and Reg 17 requirements and NHS Trusts subject to performance requirements by NHSE. She has presented at patient safety conferences in relation to the introduction of the Patient Safety Strategy and the preparation for the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and what this involves.
Pat has also supported international organisations with consultancy services, where they may require support in understanding commissioning and pathways arrangements relating to complex behavioural healthcare.

Mark's background is as a social worker within Adult Mental Health, Community, Fostering, Childcare and Older Person Services. He is the lead researcher, and undertakes independent consultancy in social care issues.
He has 24 years varied experience working within Older Persons services, Physical Disabilities, Children and Families and Adult Mental health. He has worked as an Approved Mental Health Professional.
Mark has also worked within an acute hospital setting and his expertise are around the interface between health and social care and mitigating the social care issues and needs of complex cases, particularly where patients are sectioned under the mental health act within acute settings.
Mark has extensive theoretical and practical experience and knowledge in relation to the above specialties.
He undertakes a range of independent social work services relating to adults and children with social care needs, which includes mental health, safeguarding, dementia and complex needs. The consultancy aims to deliver services which are independent of any statutory, voluntary and public bodies. He also undertakes complex systematic reviews and research in social care issues. Mark specialises in complex Mental Health, Mental Capacity Act and Care Act assessments workstreams.
